Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Galicia / Province of A Coruna / Cape Finisterre / Fisterra / Faro de Fisterra
Take the time to walk out to Faro de Fisterra, a lighthouse on a famous cape. As the nearest lighthouse to the Americas, the farthest west in Europe, it was appreciated by sailors as their last glimpse of home before many long days at sea. However, its bright beam served a much greater purpose: Its light reaches 65 km (40 mi) away, warning ships about this rocky coastline, known as the Coast of Death because of the many shipwrecks. Take a look at the collection of paintings inside. Take a look at our Fisterra road trip site to schedule your visit to Faro de Fisterra and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

The wise say" if you have to think go West" best spot to reflect. Tip: park close to the hotel
Absolutely breath-taking! The surrounding villages are picturesque and the beaches splendid!
I went there with local people. They told me that it has lost its true character. It was a very remote and lonely place, with gigantic horns that you could hear from many miles away. Of course, with the new technological advances, the sound system was shut down. Nowadays the place looks too touristic, including a souvenir, a hotel and a restaurant. Moreover, the place is kind of destroyed due to people who burn their shoes and boots, a stupid new hipster tradition.
Fantastic view. When you're there, you'll know why they call it "The end of the earth". Also a bar/restaurant present. That's about it.
We were lucky.. Not too many people.. A strange place. Magnificent yet, with secrets of the past. Superb views. Worth a visit
