Monastery Sant Pere de Rodes, Figueres

(4.6/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Often described as an unforgettable beauty, Monastery Sant Pere de Rodes is a 10th century monastery that stands watch over the sea. The structure is somewhat ruined, with just columns and the foundation intact, but the remaining portions still offer a striking visual. A modest museum on site offers more details and history about the area. There are plenty of chances for great photos, as you’ll find yourself high in the mountains surrounded by aromatic trees, with mist rising from the sea. There’s also a cafe here when you need refreshment. To visit Monastery Sant Pere de Rodes on your trip to Figueres, use our Figueres tour planner.

  • Go there on a Tramontana windy day and see a stunning Emporda landscape and Mediterranean sea on both sides. Visit also Santa Elena at the top of the hill (easy accés)
  • This monastery is deserved, to access road is tortuous, but worth the trip. From up there, one has a magnificent view and the building has been very well restored, it is very interesting.

  • While the various rooms, towers, and impressive nave were interesting to see, the main reason to visit is the location, with its spectacular views and fun mountain roads in all directions. In addition...  more »

  • The monastery itself is well worth a visit. The views from the area around it are superb. While you're there and if you feel "fit", the views from the 'castel' are spectacular but the climb is quite rocky & steep in parts so, best tackled with decent shoes, it will be much more comfortable & safe !
  • Worth a short visit, mainly for its views.
  • Great historical place, worth the visit - the area is stunning!
