  • Were the last weekend and the area deserves the penalty, only that did a little of cold but with good coat not had problem, what was of little shame it food, seemed of joke little food very bad by say something and it worst is that is had paid beforehand by transfer and is laughed of us in our face. No volvere never. In addition they have not been able to recognize her terrible mistake. Same were dishes of author and therefore the little food. I certainly do not recommend it best to bring food. According to them, the problem was our but when 44 people complain I think that the problem is theirs.

  • We had a route which the place is beautiful and very satisfied. We were about 44 people, our mistake was that we hire food at EL REFUGIO, was very bad, little everything for €15 per person cost and very badly served. NOT WHAT I RECOMMEND TO GO TO THE SHELTER TO EAT...

  • The other day climbed with some friends on the way to the shelter, the road is only impenativo nel last leg one ora or little more ma when got up the view was taken from us the tiredness... worth the effort nel refuge that is the classic mountain retreat has a stove by calientarte and large tables. And are the pinsapo another beautiful time...

  • . Sierra Bermeja - the Red Range. When the sun is on it at a certain angle, you can see why it's called that. Occasionally, very occasionally - once or twice every decade - the Esteponeros wake to see the peak covered in snow. It doesn't last more than breakfast time usually, although if you venture up to the top, from there you can usually see a tipping of snow on further - and higher - peaks. In winter it can be 18 degrees down in Estepona, and minus 3 up on Sierra Bermeja. Wrap up! To get there you drive up the MA-557 road towards Genalguacil. Probably best not to try to pronounce that, bit of a tongue-twister! You get to it by going along the Avenida de Andalucia (inner ring road), and then turning uphill at the traffic lights near the very big Mercadona supermarket. The road is steep and windy; on the way back, it is a fabulous drive with wonderful views down along the coast. At one point on the way up you get to a crossroad with a big tourist sign (Peñas Blancas), and to the left is the sign to Los Reales, straight ahead it is signposted to Jubrique. You turn left. This is the fairly scary bit, as the road is very narrow and hugs the edge of the mountain. Wonderful views down to the left, but the driver is advised not to look - keep your eyes on the road! At one point you may see cars parked by the side of the road, and a sign saying "paseo de los pinsapos". If you wish, you can stop here and take that walk through the forest. If you continue along the road, after a while you come to some sort of summer camp building, drive past that for another bit to the end of the road and the large carpark there. Ahead of you is a narrow stony path that winds round and up the mountain to several excellent viewpoints. The Pinsapos mentioned earlier are a rather rare type of pine tree, which are found only here and in the mountains of Ronda. It is a very attractive tree, with very bushy branches. Once you've seen it, you'll easily recognise it again. Great fun spotting it! The drive back down to Estepona is very good indeed. Or, if you are feeling adventurous, you can, when you get back to the Peñas Blancas crossroad, continue left to Jubrique and Algatocín. .
  • A range of trails with some fantastic look-out points offering panoramic views around the Sierra Bermeja, including Gibraltar with Morocco in the distance. We drove from Estepona along a winding mountain road in around 35-40 mins. The last few kilometres from the main road to the car park is along a narrow road, but we met few vehicles and there are some places to pull in. There was a short hike (approx. 1km) along a well-defined but occasionally rough trail, manageable in running shoes.
  • The trails are more for vehicles and are clearly logging roads on a couple. We weren't able to reach any real historical sites but there are some pretty views here.
  • Beautiful girl. Two must-see: the lookout and fir forest. The viewpoint is reached following the road until one of the two parking lots that are, one just before a bar and another a little later. And then 5 minute walk along a path. If you dare you can follow the path to another viewpoint which is located next to the antennas you'll inevitably see. From any of the viewpoints you have views of the costa del sol, Estepona, the Strait and even Africa on clear days. The FIR forest is accessed from a curve of 180º left marked with a sign shortly before reaching the former parking lots. There are cars parked so that it is easy to locate it.
