  • I like to visit the Park at the start of the winter although the best time for routes in spring and summer. I recommend you park your car in the area enabled and access to Lake St. Maurici walking through the path (for those who do not like walking, in the town of Espot there are some taxi-jeep that offer shuttle service). During the route of the journey to the Lake, I recommend a stop a small waterfall that you will find along the way.

  • We got des espot to Llac de Sant Maurici with 4 × 4 and des there did a trip made l'Estany ratera. The beautiful landscape, but little snow for the time of year where we are. Also we found ice by the road. Snowshoes were not essential but make the trip easier.

  • We got to walk the day 01/January first on the road, then along the path. Had sections ice cream that despite hiking boots, resbalábamos. Yet the goal was fully compensatory for our efforts. The frozen lake and snow-capped mountains reminded a beautiful holiday card. We went down in 4 x 4 to the station fire where we had the car because it had made us a little late and not we had neither water nor food back, but if we had arrived, we had done it walk because it really was worth walking in the middle of the beautiful postcard. Recommended absolutely.

  • Beautiful park. The trail to the top spot is not difficult but is long and steep. Therefore, recommend to take a taxi (4x4) to the top, and walk down, which takes 4-5 hours.
  • We stayed for 2 nights in Espot to the east of the park. We went with my parents, in their late 70's and did the main walk from Lake Ratera to Sant Maurici. There were fantastic views at Lake Ratera and the amazing 50m waterfall down to the crystal clear lake Sant Maurici. It wasn't difficult and we passed some locals walking their dogs even. We spent around 4 hrs doing the 4 mile walk. It can be done quicker, but we spent an hour at the waterfall and stopped for a leisurely picnic at Retara. The weather was just perfect with sun and no wind. We were walking in t shirts all the time, even though we were at 2000 meters. There are the Park's 'taxi' (long wheelbase landrover defenders) that will get you there and back to the hills at around €16 per person. Should be noted there are no facilities whatsoever in the hills. Take your picnic and as much water as you can comfortably carry. Walking shoes/boots advisable but you can get away with robust trainers.
  • Last year, we were looking for a nice place for a trekking vacation with the kids, saw photos on the web- fell in love with the place. This year we're visiting again. The place is amazing! The mountain views, lakes, and easy walking makes it a beautiful destination!
  • Stunning hikes, we hiked for 4 days here and enjoyed every moment.
  • Great national park, worth visiting more then 1 day.
