  • If what you really want is to unwind for a few hours, no doubt this is a good place. You can come by car to then start walking trails and very well marked trails. There are also several shelters if you prefer to spend a few days in the place.

  • The area is ideal for hiking and enjoying nature. If the month of August it can be avoided, there are many people, while avoiding the area more crowded: St. Maurici, Ratera and Amitges, it is easy to find areas with few people. October and November are ideal months to visit for the autumn colours of the vegetation. Up to mid-June the parts most high are still covered with snow.

  • Beautiful park. The trail to the top spot is not difficult but is long and steep. Therefore, recommend to take a taxi (4x4) to the top, and walk down, which takes 4-5 hours.
  • We stayed for 2 nights in Espot to the east of the park. We went with my parents, in their late 70's and did the main walk from Lake Ratera to Sant Maurici. There were fantastic views at Lake Ratera and the amazing 50m waterfall down to the crystal clear lake Sant Maurici. It wasn't difficult and we passed some locals walking their dogs even. We spent around 4 hrs doing the 4 mile walk. It can be done quicker, but we spent an hour at the waterfall and stopped for a leisurely picnic at Retara. The weather was just perfect with sun and no wind. We were walking in t shirts all the time, even though we were at 2000 meters. There are the Park's 'taxi' (long wheelbase landrover defenders) that will get you there and back to the hills at around €16 per person. Should be noted there are no facilities whatsoever in the hills. Take your picnic and as much water as you can comfortably carry. Walking shoes/boots advisable but you can get away with robust trainers.
  • Last year, we were looking for a nice place for a trekking vacation with the kids, saw photos on the web- fell in love with the place. This year we're visiting again. The place is amazing! The mountain views, lakes, and easy walking makes it a beautiful destination!
  • Stunning hikes, we hiked for 4 days here and enjoyed every moment.
  • Great national park, worth visiting more then 1 day.
