La Granja, Esporles

(240+ reviews on the web)
Specialty Museum
Perched in the foothills of the Tramontana mountains, La Granja is a working 17th-century farm and estate. The site passed through the hands of the Romans, Moors, feudal Christians, and the Cisterian monks before its acquisition by its current owners, the Fortuny family. Today, it exists as a living museum of traditional Mallorcan culture and craftsmanship. Inside, you will find carefully preserved antique furnishings and craftsmen at work in trades such as blacksmithing, Spanish grasswork, and tanning. A stroll through the gardens reveals elm trees, fragrant rosemary, a 9.1 m (30 ft) natural spring, and local animals like the Mallorca goat and black pig. Don't forget to sample the traditional Mallorcan fig bread, bunnelos, and fig and apricot jams made on site. To visit La Granja on your trip to Esporles, use our Esporles vacation generator.

  • The place is very well. But restoration service leaves much to be desired. A very large round table and uncomfortable, many Diners per table, we could not move the arms to use the cutlery without bothering to the of to the side. Only two mini trays of bread, two bottles of wine and two bottles of water had to be bothering everyone because we came not to take things. We went with an agency that organized the visit and there was only a first, a second and a dessert without change. A problem for those who have some kind of allergy or intolerance as happened with some of the travel companions. Regarding the bathrooms a problem many stairs and few bathrooms for the amount of people who get into the dining room. A bad experience in reality.

  • If you have interest is to see how it was the Mallorcan life of a century ago, this is your place. A possession Museum which is short but has much to do. You can go with small children. There is a picnic area, a coffee shop and 2 restaurants.

  • The actual restaurant was closed. So we went to the Café at the entrance. Service that is only somewhat routinely bored, then friendly. Menu small but the place according to OK. We ordered a club sandwich and tortilla Española. The club sandwich was drowned in mayonnaise, it lacked real egg and ham consisted of crumbs. The tortilla was somewhat better but somehow Loveless. We claimed the totally dirty, filled with fresh beer beer glasses. They were traded without a word of apology to clean wine glasses and also, free, filled with fresh beer. Overall impression: you don't need to go out. There is also 1 km below in place probably better ways.
