Experience the most important pilgrimage site on Mallorca, Lluc Sanctuary. Founded in the 13th century after a Moorish shepherd found a statue of the Virgin Mary on the site, this monastery offers a place of tranquility, spirituality, artistic heritage, and natural beauty. Wander around the grounds to appreciate the view of the mountains and the medieval monastic architecture. Behind the monastery buildings, there's a botanical garden trail with notes on preserving the environment of the Mallorcan mountain region. Inside the museum you will find works of art, ancient pottery and ceramics, furniture, and other artifacts. Enter the ornately decorated church and you may be able to hear the boys’ choir, Els Blauets, which was founded in 1531 and holds concerts regularly--their album is available in the gift shop. There are several places to eat, as well as guest accommodations and campsites. Our Escorca vacation route planner makes visiting Lluc Sanctuary and other Escorca attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
