  • The visit surprised us very pleasantly, panel paintings, the cave itself, the beautiful surroundings, superb and entertaining explanation of our guide. It is advisable to book in advance. The Pendo is perhaps one of the less tourist and unknown caves with cave art in Cantabria.

  • We entered the hairs monopolizing the permitted group once we arrived. The walk to the cave precious. The cave itself is a spectacle and guide broadcast emotion. Came from Altamira see a Museum and my children felt that it was cat by Hare. Here they recovered the smile and sense of adventurers.

  • Visited part of the cave is small but with a visit that is allows making is a very good idea of how it lived in the Paleolithic. We went on a holiday and perhaps why the visit was somewhat crowded but it is still highly recommended. The best are undoubtedly the paintings in the back of the room, are in very good condition and, at least to me, make us think how that people were able to look at both the nature and translating things using even the cracks of you seem them in the cave. The guide we had, although it he explained everything very well, did not have sufficient knowledge to answer all questions that arose during the visit.

  • In the heart of the Camargo valley, near the village of Escobedo we find one of many caves in Cantabria. This cave is not suitable for very young children or physically disabled persons. Access is via a cobblestone path which descends a couple of hundred metres into the valley where the opening of the cave is found. Small groups of a maximum of 12 or so people are permitted access accompanied by a guide. Not as rich in the number of paintings as Altamira but namely more important because the 25m painting frieze was executed in a with amazing skill at the bottom of the cave. It is difficult to determine with any precision the age, would seem to be in an ancient period, around 20,000 B.C. They are currently continuing to excavate with extraordinary results. This site is rich in archaeological finds, many of which have revealed and shed light upon our distant ancestors. You are advised to book in advance and to take some warm clothing with you as the temperature inside of the cave is about 9 degrees centigrade.
  • It is simply stunning. For my has been one of those memorable experiences. I'll be back. The guide is taken his time and feels that he likes his work, lives his explanations.

  • El Pendo cave, is located in Escobedo de Camargo, municipality of Camargo, Cantabria, declared world heritage by UNESCO. El pendo cave is, without a doubt, one of the scientific relevance of Cantabria later prehistoric sites of Altamira and El Castillo.
