It is a different from other cave. Worth the visit, it is huge and the temperature ten degrees constant. It should go well sheltered and with good shoes to prevent slipping. It should book, either by phone or online, and must be done at least a day in advance. The guide was well informed and made the very instructive visit. It must be said that they have to review hot spots, had a pair that failed deployments and the lighting is everything in a deep cave.

We went with two little girls and it is very walkable. Enjoyed at most 6-year-old and I have explained it us phenomenal. The Guide has put us in a situation and we moved to prehistoric times and works of archaeology. The paintings are impressive and have also given us data on la.perspectiva of them. We have been delighted. To repeat.

Very interesting place with paintings of hunting, Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon occupying the cave, remains of the excavation in the Santander Mupac. Interesting for lovers of prehistory

  • In the heart of the Camargo valley, near the village of Escobedo we find one of many caves in Cantabria. This cave is not suitable for very young children or physically disabled persons. Access is via a cobblestone path which descends a couple of hundred metres into the valley where the opening of the cave is found. Small groups of a maximum of 12 or so people are permitted access accompanied by a guide. Not as rich in the number of paintings as Altamira but namely more important because the 25m painting frieze was executed in a with amazing skill at the bottom of the cave. It is difficult to determine with any precision the age, would seem to be in an ancient period, around 20,000 B.C. They are currently continuing to excavate with extraordinary results. This site is rich in archaeological finds, many of which have revealed and shed light upon our distant ancestors. You are advised to book in advance and to take some warm clothing with you as the temperature inside of the cave is about 9 degrees centigrade.
  • Discreet and fascinating cave by their yacimientos.el guide brings you closer to the science of prehistory and the importance of the discoveries.

  • The prehistoric caves of Cantabria are the Paleolithic world reference. The cave of El Pendo, declared World Heritage site by Unesco, is a spectacular cave with a huge dome and cave paintings. Access to the cave and inside transit runs of stairs on different levels.
