Beach Nature / Park
One of the best wind and kitesurfing locales in the world, the waters of El Medano are always decorated with sails. Watch them cut across the waves from one of the many cafes or restaurants in the town's main square, also a spot known for local fiestas. Between the town's two beaches is La Montaña Roja (The Red Mountain), a protected natural reserve with unusual volcanic origins. Around the base of the mountain, enjoy a walk or hike to see where indigenous plant life take advantage of the mineral-rich soil. Explore the many side streets of the old neighborhoods, then seek out a small cave that is near the edge of town. Hermano Pedro once used this cave for prayer and reflection; a small shrine has been placed inside to pay homage to the saint. • We enjoyed visiting El Medano as we were staying just outside the town so we could walk in 10 minutes. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars, supermarkets etc. It only lacks good fish restaurants.  more »

  • That is amazing place, nice beaches, a bit windy afternoons but still good place to stay. There are lots of activities – from kite surfing to diving – at reasonable prices.  more »

  • A great place in the world! Lovely beach for walking and swimming.
  • A beautiful and long beach, a favourite among surfers and kiters alike. The sloping is very gentle, even, soft sand and no rocks on the bottom.
  • The playa is in the middle of the city. You can drink a beer on terrace or just walking on the beach. Sunsets are beautiful.
  • This quaint little town is just adorable ! The sea is clean, perfect to chill and relax or for all sorts of water sports ! One of my favorite spots in Tenerife
  • Not a bad beach in a quiet town. Spot seems to be good for water sports.
