One of the best wind and kitesurfing locales in the world, the waters of El Medano are always decorated with sails. Watch them cut across the waves from one of the many cafes or restaurants in the town's main square, also a spot known for local fiestas. Between the town's two beaches is La Montaña Roja (The Red Mountain), a protected natural reserve with unusual volcanic origins. Around the base of the mountain, enjoy a walk or hike to see where indigenous plant life take advantage of the mineral-rich soil. Explore the many side streets of the old neighborhoods, then seek out a small cave that is near the edge of town. Hermano Pedro once used this cave for prayer and reflection; a small shrine has been placed inside to pay homage to the saint. • A hustle and bustle often prevails here. Surfers can surf to your heart's content. Often much wind in El Medano. Quaint shops on the dike. Well worth a visit.

  • This quaint little town is just adorable ! The sea is clean, perfect to chill and relax or for all sorts of water sports ! One of my favorite spots in Tenerife
  • Kitesurfing at the bay and a nice village. Lots of apartments for rent. Also windsurfing and kitesurfing equipment for rent at the boulevard. Fine restaurants and a square where kids can play.
  • A beautiful and long beach, a favourite among surfers and kiters alike.
  • The best beach in Tenerife!!! Paradise for water sports lovers!!
  • Avoid. There is no beach. Just a dump
