Parque Natural de la Serra Gelada, El Albir

#1 of 11 in Things to do in L'Alfas del Pi
Nature / Park
Rising abruptly from the plain of Benidorn, Alfaz del Pi, and Altea is Parque Natural de la Serra Gelada, one of the most striking examples of Valencian coastal mountains. Walk or bike the well-marked pathways up to the old stone lookout tower or the lighthouse. Enjoy views of the blue Mediterranean, the town of Albir, and the rocky outcrop of Penyal D'Ifach. Get a good look at fossil dunes, caves, and trace fossils as you walk. There are also views of rocky underwater reefs and sandy shores when you look down. There is very little cover on the hike, so bring sunscreen and a hat. Bring your own water as well, as there's none on the trails or at the top. • This is a gentle 2.6km walk along tarmac roadway. Only traffic is walkers, joggers and cyclists. There are plenty of information notice boards along the way. The views across the bay from Albir to Cal...  more »

  • Excellent day out for 2 hr stroll up to the lighthouse. Follow the road up past the lookout. 2nd lookout to left of tunnel.. Watchtower after tunnel. The old caves with. Wall paintings 1950s not stone age. Pass the mine works just before el faro. Go up the cliffs to the left of el faro. Be carefully. 1000 ft 333mt drop. Longer walks to Benidorm. Very hard up and down. 7 miles. The antenna gives terrific views. Out to Altea, Calpe, moraira. Sierra Bernia, Sierra Calpe, penon de ifach. Alicante in the distance. Do remember its a national park. Dogs on leads. Don't leave rubbish. And leave the plants where they are. For others to enjoy.
  • Go to the lighthouse! View and parc are great. Velo, feet, or dog walk :)
  • If you want to see all of Benidorm in your view this and the Cross is where you need yo go, I cycled up hahaha only for the brave or stupid but worth it, 45 mins to pedal up and 4 mins to get back down
  • Lovely island and really enjoyed going on the submarine. Only downside was getting attacked by the seagulls as they were nesting
  • It is worth to visit and relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday work. Excellent walk on water scooters all recommend
