I live in Toledo and Ciudad Real and I discovered this place almost by chance when I looked at a ranking of "10 things unknown that you can not miss in Spain". I was surprised to not have never heard of a place so impressive and important as this one, especially if we take into account that is less than 45 minutes from the door of my house. Finally and after a couple of adventures, I managed to arrange a weekend to visit with my family. We started the visit in the Museum which give you a small historical contextualization of the area. Then with a minibus took us to la Motilla. I found a building that is spectacular, especially if we take into account that it has more than 4,000 years of history. Because of its size, seems more a medieval castle to a construction of the bronze age. Once inside you find yourself with a network of walls and passageways around a central tower and a water well. Today is the hydraulic structure more ancient of Spain. Without a doubt, an incredible and must-see site. Motillas and as they are today just they are not as open as this. I'm sure that's going to impress! Tip: Remember you that for this you must purchase tickets in advance on the website.

We went to visit the Motilla del Azuer with a group of children and I really liked us all. The explanation of the Guide entertaining and easy to understand for all ages. You must go early if it is summer to avoid the heat. The visit with the explanation of the guide takes something less than an hour. If you are in the area it is worth knowing this peculiar construction.

I loved the place because I didn't expect to be in such good condition with 4,000 years old. The most spectacular, no doubt, well and the 40 years of work so that everyone can enjoy it. The Organization of the visit is great since you carry by bus from the town and you don't have to worry about anything. The explanations offered by the archaeologist were long, tedious and boring. A pity that in such a unique environment to focus the visit as a Conference for College rather than bring the story to the public of a foot.

  • A completely unusual archaeological site. A prehistoric fortification in the middle of the plain to protect a water well. It was to expand to accommodate silos, ovens, stables and other. You have to book entry with time since visits are controlled and allow about 15 people each time. The days that you go with really super.
