La Catedral de Cuenca, Cuenca

The specific Gothic architecture of the 12th-century La Catedral de Cuenca may seem a little out of place in Castile. Inspired by Richard the Lionheart’s sister, Eleanor Plantagenet, who married Castilian King Alfonso VIII, it’s Anglo-Norman in style. The 20th-century facade may lead you to think that the cathedral is smaller than it really is. On the inside, you’ll find lots of light and enormous dimensions. Be sure to get the audio guide. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Cuenca holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the La Catedral de Cuenca and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • It is not a cathedral that dazzle as best although it has the charm of the Gothic cathedrals in Spain. Outside is where for my lies its charm and its most beautiful

  • I figured was a Cathedral as large and spectacular to see it on the outside. A very interesting visit, in addition to the audio guide included.

  • Located in the central square of the city. Construction started np sec. XIII and the target of several reconstructions including the facade of the early 20TH century which is very beautiful. The interior is very interesting with several chapels. It is worth climbing the triforium.

  • Beautiful cathedral, huge with plenty to see. The audio guide is included in the price and very informative. It was freezing inside the cathedral in February, best to wrap up as there is a lot to see. We spent nearly 3 hours inside
  • It's an amazing place. Gorgeous! I recommend it to choose as a first place of visiting CUENCA. I think this cathedral is even more interesting than the Main Cathedral in Toledo. Visit the view terrace! It's wonderful. Ticket price is 5 euro.
  • Good example of a typical cathedral in typical pretty Spanish countryside. It's a sleepy town so don't plan on doing anything early morning.
  • In the Plaza Mayor stand the arches of the Town Hall and the Gothic Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de Gracia. Between the Cathedral and the Casas Colgadas we can also visit the Provincial Museum, the Casa del Curato, the Diocesan Museum and the Bishop's Palace. Unfortunately to access the Cathedral you need to pay 7 euros. Not a very good option just to go inside.
  • This truly is a stunning building, the modest facade hiding an absolute treasure to view inside. There is an admission fee which includes an audioguide handset in selected languages and one simply follows the numbers posted at selected points of interest inside the building. Don't skip past any of them as you'll miss something. And there are stunning views over the gorge at the back (as well as toilets).
