Catedral de Cuenca, Cuenca

3.8
#1 of 9 in Historic Sites in Cuenca
The specific Gothic architecture of the 12th-century Catedral de Cuenca may seem a little out of place in Castile. Inspired by Richard the Lionheart’s sister, Eleanor Plantagenet, who married Castilian King Alfonso VIII, it’s Anglo-Norman in style. The 20th-century facade may lead you to think that the cathedral is smaller than it really is. On the inside, you’ll find lots of light and enormous dimensions. Be sure to get the audio guide. • Very nice. Within the old part of the city. You can climb with tourist train or walking. If you don't have vertigo road which passes through the spectacular bridge.

  • I refused to enter and pay the entrance of €4.80 having seen a huge cross dedicated to the dictator Primo de Rivera on the right side. SHAMEFUL! You should not enter anyone.

  • Although a little expensive input (4.50€) is a must-see for those who visit basin, the audio guide has a good and concise information. Beautiful contemporary stained-glass windows.

  • For 4 euro and with an audio. You can do a self guided tours for yourself. This is a must church it's spectacular inside and out. So, don't missed out on this one.
  • Didn't get in but I got a nice story from a man in town that told me that in the early 1900 when they blow-up the stone bridge behind the cathedral a big crack appeared in one of the wall and the original cupola came down!
  • OK, the cathedral seen from the outside is original since the towers collapsed and have not been rebuilt. But admission is 4.5 euros while most of the museums and foundations of the city are either free or $ 2 max. The Church is always ready to fill their pockets, so no question for me to set foot.

  • I would give 5 stars if it were cheaper, too high a price for a visit. In beautiful especially after the renewal of the lighting, the original Cathedral was almost destroyed in the civil war, it was rebuilt without respecting the original design, and think that it still does not end. Visit recommended by day and by night

  • The Cathedral of Cuenca religious building and House of God Church headquarters... charged 4' €80 per ticket, not apply discounts to large families or unemployed. Sorry, easily forget the Christian message to blow of economic interests and go way to practice with the example. Shameful.
