Patios de Cordoba, Cordoba

(4.7/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Patios de Cordoba maintains an architectural heritage dating back to the city's Roman period. Ancient inhabitants realized that an inner courtyard featuring a fountain provided relief from the region's hot, dry climate. The Moors improved on the design by adding flowers to the courtyards. Numerous areas of Córdoba still display these courtyards as they were hundreds of years ago, but you'll find the largest concentration of them in the district of Alcázar Viejo. Many residents keep their courtyards open to the public, so pop into a few and admire the displays of colorful flowers spilling over the backdrop of white-walled houses. • It is stunning combination of nature and the "trabajazo" that many people stick throughout the year to keep them clean and in its best State. It is a point to understand the ancient life of Cordoba, the union between neighbors and the beauty of these as simple things, which are made with such enthusiasm. Visit required
