I've been visiting Cordoba and had never gone to the chapels. They've loved, a place with much peace, very special. You can see Cordoba, and it is really very nice. I recommend it

Las Ermitas is fifteen kilometres from town along a busy road (there is also a walking trail definitely only suitable for trekking enthusiasts) but once you get there is a beautiful view over the city and the Valley of the Guadalquivir. There are still some Carmelites but this area is not accessible while you can see the chapel which is richly decorated inside.

One of the few deserts of removal existing in Spain. Emblematic of Cordoba for its araigo place. It is located in the Cordoba mountain with spectacular views of the city. It can be visited throughout the year but the last Sunday of every month is guided and you can see the 13 existing chapels, is worth. Highly recommended.

  • On the ancient door of access to the chapels of Córdoba a brief inscription resume us between only two words what visitors will experience during his visit: Blessed solitude. Nothing more accessible, in the entrance hall, a few inscriptions lead us to reflection: "stop the pass and warns / you entices this place / that you die in the life / to live in death." Out we descend along a gentle slope until you reach a new level, known as the balcony of the world, a magnificent viewpoint covering throughout the city, undoubtedly one of the best views of Córdoba. A colossal statue of large pedestal chairs the place, is the monument to the sacred heart of Jesus, carved in 1929 by the Sevillian sculptor Lorenzo Coullaut Valera. Near the enclosure, to the right, we find a steep cliff known popularly as the Rodadero de los Lobos, which is a large white cross of stone on a pedestal. Beside her, surprised to see an armchair also carved in stone, ordered installed in 1803 by Don Pedro Antonio de Trevilla, which eventually was Bishop of Córdoba, very remembered Bishop to prohibit the holding of processions during Holy week for several years. The Chair is known as the Bishop's Chair for obvious reasons. He says the tradition, marriageable girls sitting on it in the hope of finding a husband.

Where to stay in Cordoba

To experience the heart of Cordoba's old-world charm, the famous Jewish Quarter, or Judería, offers an array of family-owned pensions and boutique hotels with close proximity to the city's main attractions and lively tapas culture. A number of newer hotels surround the local train and bus stations offering more spacious accomodations, although removed from the city's historical district. Above all, be sure to book a hotel equipped with air conditioning as Cordoba is famous for its scorching tempuratures during the late spring and summer.
