Estábamos en la cola para adquirir entradas para visitar el Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos y se nos acercó una chica ofreciendo una visita guiada para conocer el Alcázar, la Judería y la Mezquita, to... more »We were in line to buy tickets to visit the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and we were approached by a girl offering a guided tour to get to know the Alcazar, the Jewish quarter and the Mosque, all in the morning. We found it an easier way to make a full visit to the historic center of Cordoba, so we accepted. We were charged 42 euros per person, including the price of tickets to the Alcazar and the Mosque. The visit began at 10:30 to the gate of the Alcazar and ended at 14:30 inside the Mosque. We dedicate about 50 minutes to the visit of the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a half hour in the gardens and the rest in the bathrooms and mosaic rooms and that of the paleo-Christian sarcophagus. Personally I like history more than botany, so I would have liked another distribution of time more on this visit. The girl who guided us explained in some detail aspects of the vegetation of the gardens; instead the historical explanations were superficial and in some cases inaccurate. In particular I remember that he remarked that the Spanish Inquisition was suppressed by the Constitution of Cadiz of 1812, when it was really the French with the Napoleonic invasion and the reign of Joseph I who suppressed this institution, who subsequently restored Ferdinand VII, who ended her near the end of her reign. Some other inaccuracies told us, but possibly what made me most of an intrusion was that I judged historical facts from a current mindset. I do not understand that Julius Caesar is criticized for repressing his adversaries in his war with Pompey in Hispania, as if he had to respect the Geneva Convention. I have more examples, but this illustrates what I mean. Another thing I didn't like was that in the hall of the Roman mosaics he explained that people ask the City Council to celebrate their weddings, but did not comment a word from any of the Roman mosaics that are exhibited there. From the Alcazar we went to the Jewish quarter after a quarter of an hour of pause, and in this area we entered the Synagogue, in the courtyard of the Municipal Taurine Museum with the statue of Islero and the bust of Manolete, in the courtyard of the municipal Souk (craft market) , and took us to see and touch the statue of Maimonides. The last hour and quarter of the visit was spent in the Patio de los Naranjos of the Mosque and inside it, where we were given a receiver with headphones to follow the explanations. The guided tour ends inside the Renaissance nave of the cathedral, leaving us time to continue seeing the wonderful mosque – cathedral at our own pace. The bad thing is that at the end of the late it is advisable to quickly find somewhere to eat and we could hardly see anything else from the cathedral. In short, I ended up thinking that it was not a good thing to make the visit, since it is noticeable that my interests did not coincide with the explanations of our guide, to which I recognize a lot of sympathy in the treatment with the group and the great effort that he made to explain itself surrounded by u N constant murmur caused by the crowds of tourists visiting the city. The truth is that he kept up to what we were offered when we hired the visit, but I expected something else.
Cordoba is beautiful and romantic, and the Mosque Cathedral is the main attraction. Highly recommend. We had Raphael as our tour guide and really appreciated his passion and enthusiasm for history and... more »
Excellent tourism professional, we have contracted with it and everything perfect, I recommend it 100%
Simply masterful, very enjoyable and fun but very didactic and cultural visits, perfect organization
Highly recommended, great professionals. The visits are very enjoyable, you do not even realize that time has passed I have hired several and in each one I have learned a little more of the fabulous history of Cordoba.
A 3.5 - 4 hour sightseeing tour to the historic center of Cordoba should have planning and the guide, whose knowledge I do not discuss, has made a bravery of improvisation worthy of the worst criticism. Direct a visit without clock, dedicating more time than is convenient to the Alcazars to the detriment of other visits (e.g. Mosque), joining groups for lack of staff, entertaining themselves in trivial topics without prioritizing their exhibition... A suspense.
They offer very complete guided routes, very good value for money, and a complete and unbeatable service. Great experience!
