Historic Centre of Cordoba, Cordoba

4.8
#5 of 35 in Sightseeing in Cordoba
Landmark Tourist Spot
One of the largest of its kind in Europe, Historic Centre of Cordoba contains structures from Roman, Arabic, and Christian times. From the Romans, you’ll see a bridge; from the Jews, a synagogue; from the caliphs, the baths and mosque; and from the Christian Monarchs, the Alcázar. The mosque’s arches particularly impress. You might even find yourself thinking of Marrakech here. Don’t miss the tapas bars. Where to stay in Cordoba

To experience the heart of Cordoba's old-world charm, the famous Jewish Quarter, or Judería, offers an array of family-owned pensions and boutique hotels with close proximity to the city's main attractions and lively tapas culture. A number of newer hotels surround the local train and bus stations offering more spacious accomodations, although removed from the city's historical district. Above all, be sure to book a hotel equipped with air conditioning as Cordoba is famous for its scorching tempuratures during the late spring and summer.

  • A maze of old winding streets. It's easy to lose your way, so allow plenty of time for your visit. Can be very hot during the day, so it's best to visit early morning or late evening.  more »
  • This town is a mixture of Moore, Christian and Jewish cultures. Unique architecture. Roman town - then Caliphate - then Christian.  more »
