  • This is one of the latest neo-classical monuments erected in the city of Madrid, and frankly it is not of the best. It is dedicated to those who fell in the war of independence but over time has been extended to all the fallen and currently is the monument to the unknown soldier. The eternal fire recalls that gave their lives for Spain since the 1990s. If you go at night it is an excellent area to park if you are going to orchards

  • Today is called monument to the fallen by Spain though it was built as a tribute to the Heroes of the Dos de Mayo. The monument is the equivalent to the tomb of the unknown soldier in other countries. It is located in the plaza of the loyalty and houses a sarcophagus under the obelisk, with the ashes of the shot in this place by the French in the war of independence with a Medallion in bas-relief depicting busts of Daoiz and Velarde.
