Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.

  • Amazing stadium! Not a bad seat in the place. Fun atmosphere! Glad I got to see a match before Atletico moves to their new stadium
  • Just love it. My second home. Even knowing that moving will be for good, I still can't assume this will not longer be Atlético de Madrid field anymore. I'm gonna miss it a lot.
  • An iconic monument to competitive football. The passion of the team supporters is worth watching. Amazing environment during matches.
  • From a football perspective a great place to soak up the atmosphere of Spanish football. I have been a few times and even in a dead rubber champions league game against a little known team from Ukraine there was a decent atmosphere. Check it out before the club moves to it´s new stadium!
  • Catching a game at the Calderón is an awesome experience, especially as the "team of the people" plays there... but it's old and dangerous as well. One of those places that would survive ok nostalgia but is probably better off being renovated. Unfortunately it's just being replaced.
