  • CHINCHILLA DE MONTEARAGÓN is a nearly intact medieval jewel, but before being medieval Chinchilla was a location later Roman and Iberian (Saltigi), later occupied by the Visigoths, and the Arabs conquered it naming the square Ghenghalet. It is a paradoxical example of La Mancha population that dominates the plain from the height of a hill and from where it sounds like the saying: "since the Chinchilla is the Roda, Roda, Almansa, Albacete and stain all looks". Chinchilla is Castle and wall, noble plaza mayor and noble palaces, Arab baths, temples and monasteries that give substance and form to a town proud of its lineage, its steep cobbled streets and, finally, a beautiful nobility that transports visitors strong and warlike spirit of the middle ages. The Plaza Mayor, call "la Mancha" is the vital nucleus and a valuable collection of monuments surround it: the Archpriestal Church of Santa María de el Salvador (15th/16th centuries), the Town Hall (16th/18th centuries) and the clock tower. In this square the main events take place including its famous Semana Santa. The Castle dominates everything, also in the distance. Not remaining vestiges in the castle of the Muslim fortress, or the first Christian Castle, as the current is of the 15th century after acquiring Fort Juan Pacheco, master of Santiago and Marquis of Villena, who rebuilt lopped the old castle walls, giving the packaging and shape that even today we see on the height. The most famous guests was Cesare Borgia, favorite son of Papa Alejandro VI, who brought the great Captain prisoner to Spain in 1504, by order of Fernando el Católico. And, curiously, had penitentiary function up to half of the 20th century. You have to deviate to enter Chinchilla, but well worth...

  • Nice Castle closed for works but which allows a pleasant walk in the surrounding area. The center of the city also is worth with the Town Hall, the clock tower, Church and buildings around.

  • The Castle has a perfect outside. Located to not too distance of the Center urban is can access with a ride of about 15 minutes. It has a remarkable and peculiar pit. And its exterior is well preserved. It is incomprehensible is not enabled to gain access to the interior

  • It looks so awesome and it's so amazing
  • Located in an exceptional place, from which you can see all La Mancha as the song says. Restored the exterior, when the interior can also be restored, it will be ideal to be able to visit it.

  • Spectacular. What is most striking is the pit. And the place where it is located.
