Cueva El Soplao, Cantabria
(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Come to to see its helictites--stalactites unusual for the way they defy gravity--and sheets of calcite that in many cases appear translucent. A train brings you through the cave entrance into its main chambers. Continue on foot through the tunnels and different “rooms” to view the wondrous formations they contain. The size of the vast Gallery Gorda should make you feel small in comparison. In the Gallery of the Forest, columns of joined stalactites and stalagmites create the appearance of a forest. If you're more adventurous, take a longer tour--headlamps, overalls, and rubber boots provided. • Nice to visit with interesting explanations, the cave is spectacular and well prepared for your visit. It would be improved if last more time, its duration is limited to 50 minutes which prevents a more leisurely contemplation. The price is expensive. Its location is privileged with wonderful views.

  • Well I put a normal because this should be a criticism to their managers. They have a cave without a doubt wonderful, I I was excited on the inside before so much beauty. However this cannot justify the price. 12 euros per 45 minutes is too much, in a group with about 50 people. If smaller, group and more time you would understand the cost. A shame that something so beautiful look like a machine to make money so subtracting value. I wish I was within reach of more people to be able to make the visit.

  • A marvel of place. Lighting and the Guide explanations, makes you to be you with your mouth open. My boyfriend and I are in love with this land. And we have fallen in love with even more than this site. Above all what more caught us the attention the eccentrics. Beautiful everything! Cut the visit. A snag but none of the caves, some poorly educated visitors with guide, and the rest. You walk into a cavity where they put you music for its good acoustics, and the fool of the got with the phone to music while continuing to enjoy the moment. And he spoke to the very rude Guide.

  • Stunning formations. I've been to plenty of caves and these were outstanding. Beautiful surrounds as well.
  • The mandatory guided tour is only in Spanish and our tour guide didn't even try a little to explain something (in between) in English. The cave itself is quite nice though, but the attitude of our guide pretty much ruined our stay.
  • Huge Caves! This place is really worth a visit. The cave is vast and truly spectacular to see, and the miners train you take adds to the fun. The views of the surrounding mountains are worth the trip alone.
  • Algo caro.....
  • It'a a great place to visit. The caves are wonderful
