(4.6/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
A chapel tucked into a cave perched in the Picos de Europa mountain range, is impressive. Asturians speak of the mysticism and the history of Covadonga in the same breath. The Battle of Covadonga began the Christian reconquest of the Iberian peninsula. Here you’ll find the remains of several important and early members of Asturian royalty. • Being very attached to the santina I can't say that I adore this Sanctuary is an essential part of my vacation, j pays tribute to the santina for every holiday! The places are clean and well maintained, there are a lot of security and the guardia civil is always present in order to ensure the security of all and respect for the places.

  • Beautiful. The sanctuary of Covadonga is located in a unique area, and with religious motives or without them, seems to me an essential stop.

  • The basilica and Grotto are simply spectacular, the place invites you to disconnect (despite being crowded, even with bad day). IF the day accompanies the road towards the Lakes offers a spectacular view, so the driver can also enjoy it it is necessary to stop at any of the viewpoints that exist along the way.

  • This place is really nice, especially for its location and for the environment. Placed in a very difficult, the exterior looks impressive while inside you'll find a very dark place.

  • A basilica and a sanctuary immersed in the Woods, the one with its grandeur to remember a place of worship where Christians won the Moors, beginning the reconquista, the other, small and carved into the rock, is one of the most famous Marian sanctuaries of North and venue de la Santina. Under the sanctuary, a waterfall and fountain, which is tied up a legend for single girls. In and around this complex there are the Lakes of covadonga, easily accessible
