Park Genoves, Cadiz

4.5
#1 of 6 in Parks in Cadiz
Nestled between the historic old town and the Atlantic Ocean on the eastern end of Cadiz, Park Genoves offers an exotic garden oasis away from the bustle of the city. Lined with many different species of palm trees, cypresses, and cacti, the park lies along Cadiz’s coastal walking circuit. Many of the plants here were originally brought to Spain as discoveries from the New World. Stroll down a wide boulevard dotted with benches and fountains, through shaded grottos, or along one of the area’s many winding side paths that lead to a variety of smaller gardens. Be sure to visit the nearby beach, and remember to check the park's online schedule, as it occasionally hosts concerts. • Do it right here through the park fun to go and take a short break on a park bench. The garden dating back to the late eighteenth century, as he was then rebuilt and improved as "Paseo del Perejil" known Park.

  • A beautiful park, with a majestic waterfront, to go quietly. The trees are beautiful and let imagine the splendor of Cadiz. See

  • The parque Genoves, is located in the high part of the city. It is the green lung more large in extent of Cadiz. To sunbathe, take a stroll among the palms, enjoy its fountains, sitting quietly on a bench and enjoy nature.

  • . The Parque Genoves is without a doubt a 5 star park. It is one of the best formal city parks in Spain. Sited next to the Parador de Cadiz (and I reckon that the rooms with the view over the park are the best ones to have), it is an oasis of green next to the sea. It is divided into two unequal halves by a road leading to an underground car park, so once you've seen one half, make sure that you cross over to the other part too. There are wonderful topiary trees, an enormous variety of plants, flowers, shrubs and trees. But above all, there is water. Water, water everywhere! By the side of the main path there are over a hundred little fountains. Only 8 or 12 inches high, they nonetheless cool down the air and make a pretty tinkling sound. Then at the southern end there is a waterfall. This has been made by building a miniature mountain, down which the water cascades and tumbles into a small lake. But the interesting thing about this waterfall is that you can climb up the mini-mountain (steps, no climbing tackle needed) to obtain a lovely view of the park from up high. And then you can go inside the mountain, to a grotto where you can see the water pouring down past you. The final cherry on the cake of this great park is the little cafe-bar near the southern entrance, where you can get good value food and drinks. .
  • Even on a rainy day, it's a beautiful garden.😍 Very well maintain with hidden corners, places to rest, something for kids and adults alike. It was a pleasure to stroll through it. And find out that dinosaurs are living in a park alongside the ducks😉
  • Enjoy the stroll alongside the water, at the time of this review there was a exhibition on recycling and dinosaurs. Don't miss that.
  • A nice place to walk round and enjoy the air. There are a lot of fountains. But so,e of them are dirty and disgusting, due to people throwing their waste in which is disappointing but there are a lot of fountains that are clear water and look lovely to sit around on the park bench. There is a bit that is fenced off at the moment that looks really good which was disappointing and it looks like it has been fenced off for a while. (For future readers: it may not be fenced off at the time you are reading this but google will tell you how old this review is. If the area is still fenced of when you went there yourself, please like this review). In conclusion this is a very nice park with beautiful trees chopped into spirals.
  • Cadiz is an easy city to walk around, enjoying the wonderful views of sea and old buildings as you go. Here in the park you can take a quiet break in the shade and watch the world go by! At the northern end look for the fishermen near the old sentry box and check their catch!
