Catedral de Cadiz, Cadiz

It took five architects 116 years to finish Catedral de Cadiz, and the results are impressive. Starting in the Baroque style, picking up Rococo elements, and finally finishing as a Neoclassical structure, the cathedral features paintings and relics from other cathedrals and monasteries around Spain. Take a tour using one of the provided audio guides, and climb one of the towers of the cathedral for views of the city and the bay. Composer Manuel de Falla and poet and playwright José María Peman rest in the crypt. Impressive rise to the West Tower. The spectacular Cathedral. Descontartela, of course. Ascent to the impossible tower with cart.

Imposing and majestic, containing works of sculpture and painting, not to be missed. Visit to be programmed with time spent filling and without thinking of "only seeing" but use the audio language. Deserves to be seen with dedication.

Beautiful old cathedral, very spacious. You can climb the Tower, which offers a good view of the city.

  • This spectacular cathedral is beautiful outside and in. Admission is 5€ per adult and includes an audio guide. There are multiple languages available, including English. When you see an audio placard with a number on it, type the corresponding number into your audio guide for playback. Hold the audio guide to your ear like a telephone and enjoy all the information you are about to hear. Spend some time in the crypt and play with the acoustics. Admire the immense organs, beautiful sculptures, and historic paintings. If you want to listen to the entire audio guide, plan about an hour inside. There is a restroom just to the left of the 3rd audio placard.
  • According to the audio guide, it's the only Spanish cathedral made out of marble. I don't know if it's true but it sure is beautiful on the inside. The entrance is 5 euros and you get a free audio guide and a visit to the tower. I think it's completely worth it and would do it again. The only slight negative for me personally is that the English audio guide gives you too many details which makes it boring after a while (at least for me, may be good for someone with more interest in the subject)
  • A peculiar combination of Baroque and neo-classical styles! Certainly worth a visit specially the crypt and the bell tower
  • Impressive cathedral, probably need audio guide to fully appreciate the history and significance
  • I did not enter the cathedral. From outside, the building is really beautiful with great shape and color. The plaza around makes it even splendid.
