Museo de Caceres, Caceres

(4.4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Housed inside two historic buildings, the archaeological and ethnological displays at Museo de Caceres are tucked into the natural alcoves of the original architecture. The artifacts are spread between two floors and accompanied by both Spanish and English descriptions. Begin on the top floor and work your way down to the main attraction: the cistern. You'll have to cross the courtyard to reach some of the exhibits, including the fine art rooms, where examples of early art hang from the stone walls. • The Museum, free access, is a compendium of rooms with varied, from prehistoric materials, whose common link is the province of Caceres. It is essential to visit the cistern, which is the second most big kept, after the cistern of Istanbul.

  • Located in the Plaza de las Veletas, this museum was built on a former Arabic alcazar. Striking beauty of its façade, decorated with two large carved shields. It is a very well maintained, with a linfdo building courtyard surrounded by columns of granite. The EEC citizens have free access. Of it otherwise your payment is accessible. Among the objects that draw the most attention are stelae Diadems of granite from the bronze age (2,000 to 3,000 BC) and streaks of warriors from the 8th century to 9th BC The most eye-catching will find it at the end of the tour, when you access a cistern from the 12th century, with arcades of Horseshoe, Arabic type and granite columns. This was collected rainwater from the roof and square. Saving the distance and size it is a cistern Basilica in miniature like that found in Istanbul. It is worth visiting the Museum of Cáceres, a mandatory visit.

  • In the final tour of the Museum, a modern museum with several Picasso and the area below there are some paintings loan from the Prado in madrid and a! Greco! A big surprise, and the majority of the visitors fail to discover it because the staff is very funcionarail!

  • Maybe the tank. The rest, for my taste, dispensable.
