Stroll through Parque natural s'Albufera de Mallorca, the largest wetland area in the Balearics, and you're sure to get a look at some of the 271 species of birds that call the preserve home--purple swamp-hen, black-winged stilt, and teal, to name a few. You'll also see myriad fish, reptiles, the rare Barbastelle bat, and the Psyathyrella halofila, a toadstool unique to S’Albufera. The site boasts the highest biodiversity in the Balearics due to the unique confluence of abundant rain, rich sediment, and proximity to the sea, which creates a fertile floodplain environment. Stop by the information center to learn about the wildlife and paths for walking and biking--lengths range from 15 minutes to around 3 hours. Don't forget water as the expansive park can get warm. The birding huts can also be a good place to find shade. • Very beautiful there with the bicycle driving (walking kind of wide/large). Many birds, but also cattle, etc. Beautiful landscape. Definitely bring a strong Mückenmittel, because it has tons of mosquitoes. Trip by bicycle possible but not very nice, for fast cyclists no problem. But traffic cars have absolute priority and are quickly observe that. Crosswalks rarr. For bird lovers paradise.
