Museo de la Evolucion Humana, Burgos

(4.3/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Museo de la Evolucion Humana focuses on human evolution in an apropos location, some 16 km (10 mi) from the Sierra de Atapuerca human fossil finds. The museum and grounds were designed by the architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg, and will be of interest in themselves. But inside you’ll find a recreation of the Sierra de Atapuerca mountain range, ultra-realistic reproductions of human ancestors, and the answers to your questions about the differences (or lack thereof) between us and our hunter-gatherer predecessors. You can even visit the sites of the fossil finds on a shuttle that leaves from the museum. • It was a discovery, as we saw all the jewels discovered in Atapuerca, and is very oriented to children, so the visit is highly recommended with them.

  • You can't go from Burgos without seeing this museum. Very interesting both for children and adults. Spectacular building

  • Staff friendly and prepared. The visit to the Museum was more enriching, in addition the talks offered by the Museum workers are very interesting and help you enjoy much more than the visit.

  • I visited during the free entry on Wednesday evenings from 7pm until the museum closes at 8pm. The hour was just enough time to dash around the key exhibits, but you could easily spend a few hours here, especially if you had children with you. The museum exists to display the finds from the nearby archaeological sites, and although impressive are limited in number. Therefore the majority of the museum is given over the explaining human evolution. The vast majority of the exhibits and displays have the information displayed in English.
  • Beautiful museum in burgos. Very well explained how humans and the environment evolved during history. Screens, videos and other technology and gadgets are used to explain. Perfect place to bring your kids on a journey to our past.
  • They don't have lot of things and it is poorly explained. I wouldn't recommend go there, it is better to go directly to atapuerca
  • merece la pena visitar. todo muy interesante. meencanto
  • The tour to the UNESCO World Heritage excavation site of Atapuerca 15 km to the SE leaves from here. There the earliest and most abundant evidence of humankind in Europe was found in a sealed caves. The finds are displayed in the museum which is expensive but interesting and worth it.
