  • I don't like beautiful baroque churches, chapels and cloisters still always has its own charm-in entrance fee is also included the Church of St Anthony

  • One of the most beautiful baroque churches of the city, with a notable influence in its facade and its interior architecture of the Roman Church of the Gesu, mother church of the society of Jesus, the Congregation to which also belonged the temple. Highlights besides the altarpieces of the altar of style churriguiresco and its side chapels, especially that of the sacred heart, very original design, and the La Dolorosa which includes a canvas of the Ecce Homo of Raymundo Capuz made using a model of Anton van Dyck.

  • Baroque style. Well renovated after the flood that took place.

  • The parish church of los Santos Juanes, of the 17TH century, occupied, along with the Basque Museum, which in its day was a Jesuit Foundation outside the walls of the historic centre of the town: the whole of the Church and the Colegio de San Andrés. Undergoing successive transformations, this Church of Baroque style with Renaissance elements, has an altar dedicated to the sacred heart, unique in the world. After the floods of 1983, was restored under the direction of architect Miguel Angel Corcuera. It is a model of Jesuit church with Latin cross plan inscribed in a rectangle and nave with chapels on both sides.

Where to stay in Bilbao

Thanks to the Bilbao's safe and newly renovated metro system, all neighborhoods are any easy commute regardless of the city's characteristic rainy weather. The Casco Antiguo, or old quarter, is undoubtedly the heart of the city's and best place for trying the famous "pintxos" or small appetizers. Small boutique hotels and family-owned pensions provide affordable and convenient accommodation for those wishing to get to know this picturesque district. If you prefer a more tranquil experience away from the lively bar culture characteristic of the old quarter you might wish to stay in one of the many hotels that line the beautiful Nervión River leading down from the historical district to the Guggenheim museum.
