Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Bilbao
(4.2/5 based on 9,000+ reviews on the web)
Housed in a building that is widely regarded as architect Frank Gehry’s masterpiece, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao contains a large collection of contemporary art. The museum is seamlessly integrated into its urban surroundings, featuring interconnecting shapes of stones, glass, and titanium on a 32,500 sq m (350,000 sq ft) site along the Nervion River in the old industrial heart of the city. While modest from street level, the building is most impressive when observed from the river, and many travelers consider simply seeing the site from this viewpoint the highlight of their visit to the city. Yet the treasures inside are the real attraction for art lovers from around the world. The museum features numerous exhibits of works by prominent Spanish and international artists. It generally hosts thematic temporary shows, though the highlight is a series of steel sculptures designed by prominent artist Richard Serra. • As I said... impressive. the structure and arrangement of the impressive building to my ver.la work of art non exposta all left me impressed, but as I said in the beginning the context and the sculpture of the outside seem me impressive. For my worth seeing it at least a vez.impactante and beautiful.

  • Wonderful architecture. Beautiful sculpture of a dog all in different shades of ornate flowers. Spaces well distributed on several floors with explanation in English, Spanish and Basque. Beautiful and modern internal architecture. Room for the cafeteria. External area very differentiated to circle around the Museum. Beira rio. Easy access for wheelchair users. Necessary care with children!

  • Got in free on a Sunday in October. Lovely multi storey museum with loads of paintings to see. It was packed inside with a long queue outside, but they did very well organisation wise and everyone would get in quickly and we had a pleasant time. The outside is spectacular too, with a river side walk.
  • I love this place. One of my all time favorite museums. A -must- visit. Keep your GPS handy while looking for parking as there is not enough nearby. The river walk up to the museum is well worth it.
  • Outstanding collection. Pictures in dimensions - never seen before. Architecture the other top point. Amazing museum. Must see.
  • Amazing space. The collections were mixed. There are two fantastic Kieffer paintings in the top floor, and the large indoor installation of Serra is a great experience (especially the one in the very back of the large hall). I also did a guided group tour, which .. to my surprise... was very good.
  • Amazing energy right next to the Nervion, it fuels the city with vibrancy. The actual showing is distributed on an easy to follow way, exhibitions are trully wonderful (Francis Bacon and British artist making a stand for visual contemporary art with the BBC musicians playing without instruments)
