Castillo de Colomares, Benalmadena

4.2
#1 of 6 in Historic Sites in Benalmadena
Surprisingly, builders broke ground on Castillo de Colomares in 1987 and finished in 1994. Rather than a castle of antiquity, it is an homage to Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the New World, and at 1,500 sq m (16,000 sq ft), the largest such monument. Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic, and Mudéjar styles combine with Christian, Jewish, and Muslim influences in the architecture. Inside, explore educational exhibits about the discovery. Take a bus or taxi from the train station, as the steep walk up can be strenuous. • Staff very's. So here was built as a monument of the great castle like a is not the so-called Castle. This is one person barely into Tower. Enjoy views of the Costa del Sol from here I think admission 2 euros, but if atmosphere is great. Afternoon opening 15 minutes ago I arrived, I noticed were me started the Guide as soon as possible, so please respond flexibly thanks. Should you, however, to keep in mind there's no place like kill time by walking, and not because it is not very long, there is a break. Because Spain is not careful is the siesta.

  • It is a very nice "Castle" Although in truth it is a tribute to Christopher Columbus little known, is worth visiting it if you're in the area, the views are fabulous just like all the environment in general, is very quick to see and you can park in front of form free ITA ideal if you go with children.

  • The Castillo is a monument that was built between 1987 and 1994. In 18 artistic expressions is the life of Columbus told. Built like a fairytale Castle. Gorgeous. Photogenic. I even got a Dutch explanation on a landscape A4 sheet. Recommended. Not great, very special. Limited parking.

  • Great photo opportunity for any photographer! Cheap entry. English speakers at entry. Remember it closes for siesta. We turned up at siesta, pretty gutted but the man at entry pointed us to a little town up the hill in which we could grab lunch and come back. We was very grateful for this as we'd travelled quite a distance. Once entered my two daughters aged between 4-10years absolutely loved it! They ran around, climbed stairs and were amazed by the castle. We spent around a hour here! On leaving again the man running the place was very generous and ordered us a taxi back down into benalmadena. Overall a good experience 😊😊
  • Love it. Fab place to visit. Only 2euros for adults. Will recommend it anyday.
  • Rude arrogant and hostile greeting. Obviously the person has problems with addressing human beings in a civilised manner.
  • It might be interesting for children, as the castle looks like it's made out of sand and there are some towers you can climb to. Not worth a drive if you not in the area anyway.
  • I mean....really?! I have wasted 10 minutes of my life by visiting this place..and now waisting another minute writing this review....it´s "just" some kind of "construction" on the side of a hill....
