Torre Agbar, Barcelona

3.6
#29 of 127 in Sightseeing in Barcelona
Architectural Building Tourist Spot
Torre Agbar is a 38-story skyscraper shaped like a bullet that towers over the city. While residents didn’t initially accept it, the building is now a symbol of architecture and the Catalan capital. Unfortunately, you can enter only the ground floor. Since the building hosts the city’s water company, there are often temporary exhibits with water-related themes. View this attraction by way of bus tours that travel the city, or even from a helicopter tour. Work out when and for how long to visit Torre Agbar and other Barcelona attractions using our handy Barcelona travel itinerary planner.

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.

  • We stayed at Four Point Sheraton which is only blocks from this building. The good part is we can be anywhere in the city, if we look up, we know exactly where our hotel is just by searching the skyli...  more »
  • Its a good reference point if walking around that part of town, but it looked nothing like the colourful night pictures I've seen on TA. During the day it looked very grey & pretty dull. I can see why...  more »

  • What to say about the dildo of Barcelona? its big and round and it lights at night. Placed in the crossing of the most important streets, you cant help but find it.
  • Beautiful colours! Awesome night view. A building worth visiting!
  • Looks exactly like a dildo. Undeniable.
  • Yes, it has very lively lights at night and gives an impression at night. Seeing the hype about the tower, we went to see the building closer in daylight. It was a total disappointment, there was nothing specific in or around the building. The area around it was under construction, we felt like the magic of Barcelona was swept away here. Near shopping mall was more interesting than the building.
  • Named after the early Admiral Aackbar of Mon Cala for his performance during the battle of Endor.
