Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.

  • The view was amazing. You can see the town from above. The service is very kind and efficient. When we came there was a rather short line, which was handled by the on site personal very quickly.  more »

  • We took the funicular from the metro which is a really quick way to get to the cable car. The cable car isn't the cheapest mode of transport to Montjuic but it provides superb views of the city and th...  more »

  • Great views of Barcelona. It was €12.50 for a return ticket across which wasn't bad considering you could get off and explore the castle at the top of the mountain before hopping back on. It was a very comfortable, relaxing ride. I would recommend going up to Montjuïc if you are visiting the city for the first time, as the sights are spectacular.
  • A little pricy at 12,50€ for a round trip but if you don't want to walk up it is a good option since you do get done great views. On the plus side, access to the castle is only 5€ (or 3€ if under 30) so it balances out. It is a smooth slow ride this you get to take all the pictures you want.
  • Nice view over bcn, you can visit the castle, hike or take the other air tram from hotel miramar to barceloneta
  • Great views of the city. The castle at the top is a must see as well. Beautiful sites all around.
  • Spectacular views of Barcelona. Rather long queue and expensive. Plus, castle entry has to be paid separately.
