Port Vell, Barcelona

#84 of 1,568 in Things to do in Barcelona
Port Vell is the modern heart of the tourists’ Barcelona, even though its name translates to “Old Port.” There are multiple theaters, including an IMAX theater, and numerous shops. It’s also home to Europe’s largest aquarium. Take the time to see the bridge open up for a boat to pass, and look at the water to admire the swimming fish and floating sculptures. Note that this port connects to the pedestrian street Las Ramblas. • Port Vell is a beautiful place to walk because he has it all, a cute a pedestrian bridge to Maremagnum or simply to sit and watch the sea and the boats that come and go. Maremagnum is a very modern and complete shopping which is in addition to the usual restaurants you can dine, take a drink, etc. looking at the Mediterranean Sea with its small tables on the terrace.

  • Beautiful ballad to do along the Harbor, relatively clean place. Presence of many sellers to the sly, often repulsed by the marine police, they cause no discomfort to tourists. Many yachts are present. Possibility to dine, to hydrate... along the port. Visit to do as a couple, very nice.

  • Great place to find cheap Barca jerseys.. not everyone can afford €100 jersey. At Port Vell, the price is less than a quarter than any other places
  • Amazing boats out here...❤⛵
  • Great yachts and sailboats. Now the Tesla Pop Up
  • Nice port with some famous yachts sometimes!
  • Super yachts. I really haven't seen this much – when yachts are on top of the helipad.

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
