You have to be patient to get a table around the square bars. It's better to go during week days, (best time may around noon)  more »

Breath of fresh air in the big city. Our own little square near our apartment. During the day they play here the little kids away around the clock tower. Few tourists, many locals.

It is located in the Centre of the Gracia neighbourhood, and is a place with great atmosphere. Usually do the majority of celebrations of the neighborhood in this plaza. The plaza Rius i Taulet called so until 2009. From this date, it is called La Plaza de la Vila de Gràcia, although it is also known by the inhabitants of grace as the Plaza de Oriente. It is the administrative center of the District of Gràcia. In the Center there is a Bell-Tower of 33 meters, which dominates the square. It is an octagonal tower with a clock of spheres of four corners. At the top is the mythical "Campana de Gracia", baptized as "Marieta". The legend says that in 1870, during the rampage of the fifth, was playing from 4 to 9 April, driven by a rope to the roof of a neighbor. In the southern part of the square is the building of the headquarters of the district, restored a few years ago, in the facade are two street lamps of style sailor and the coat of arms of the village wrought iron.

  • So my review of this park isnt going to be based from a typical visit there. We visited the park because we read online somewhere about something called Castelleras which we thought was going to be a dance competition of some sort. We sat in the park waiting for this competition to start but as the time grew closer, it was clear that it was not dancing but rather people making towers multiple levels tall by standing on each others shoulders. This was one of the highlights of coming to Barcelona! we loved watching this and was in Aw at how they were able to accomplish this! Go see this if you can! I dont know the schedule but if you look them up online, you should be able to fins something out.
  • Pictoric and calm, great place to people watch and get a beer or a vermut.
  • One of our favourite spots in the city. Often lively, usually something to watch. A few tourists but still a neighborhood. Come in mid-August and be astonished by the Festa Major de Gracia. the Plaça is one of the focal points. At any time of year, look for the plaques recalling casteller exploits of years gone by and if you're lucky (especially if you have children with you) and the little town hall doors are open, see if you can step inside for a bit of a surprise. Even if it's closed, have a look through the windows on the left.
  • Great spot in the centre of the city, check out the gaudi buildings and the fountains. Can get very busy!
  • My favorite place at the moment, loads of good beer and tapas bars. It can get crowded in the summer and a target of protest groups who can ruin your evening...

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
