Passeig del Born, Barcelona

3.9
The cafes of Passeig del Born teem with activity day and night. The Born Market lies at one end of the neighborhood's pedestrian walkway. Start your tour there to stroll the stalls, then make your way up the passage. The architecture on the walkway retains a medieval grandeur from a bygone Barcelona, and the shading from the tall trees in the center gives it a romantic ambience. At the end of the pedestrian path is the church of Santa Maria del Mar, where musicians play on the steps and couples stop to take in the scenery. Beautiful party area. Something apart from the usual in Barcelona - many small in-bars - something for everyone

It is a beautiful, full of streets and corners very attractive and aesthetic. Breathes history and bohemia in the multiple bars and businesses. Buskers and much youth printed you a special color. Not miss it!

From this avenue you can do pretty much everything: sit, walk, go into one of the dozens of locations in the district, get to the mercat del Born (now a memory), penetrate upward between the delightful narrow streets of Gothic or descend down to the waterfront. Nice always, day and night.

  • Make sure you try the "cazon a la Andaluza" my favourite fish so far!
  • A bit touristy, but some of the tapas we had were very good (excellent croquettes and patatas bravas, at least).
  • Stopped here on a whim. The tapas were good. I liked the Russian salad a lot, and my wife enjoyed her meatball casserole of five meatballs in a beef vegetable broth. The best thing we had was "The Bomba" a fried potato ball surrounding flavorful meat with two delicious sauces
  • Nice range of olives and some tapas. Beer good, but some smells in bar.
  • Ok food and drinks. Not amazing but also not bad.

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
