Parc de Montjuic, Barcelona

4.2
#3 of 105 in Museums in Barcelona
Get some fresh air and escape the bustle of the big city with a visit to Parc de Montjuic, a sprawling green area featuring well-maintained gardens, cultural attractions, and sports venues. Covering the slopes of a hill that overlooks the port of Barcelona, the park hosted its first events during the 1929 World’s Fair. Today, the area is home to several museums, housed inside some of the city’s finest examples of modern architecture. The top of the hill, which is 185 m (607 ft) high, was the site of several military fortifications, and a castle dated to about 1640 still stands there today. Stop by to photograph the sprawling city and relax with a leisurely stroll, or enjoy fine art and exquisite architecture at one of the museums. • It's a very interesting Park, away from the center of town where there's only confusion and people ... Here, nature dominates!

  • Huge park whose peak is situated 173 meters of altitude relative to sea level, where the Castell de Montjuïc, a flagship fortress, symbol of suppression and the battles that were fought along the history of Barcelona. With a privileged location, maintains a full panoramic view of the city of Barcelona where you do exceptional photos. To get put take the funicular at Metro station Paral-el, then the funicular and the same ticket 150 Bus to the top of the Hill. The 150 Bus makes coming and going from the Plaza of Spain.

  • Most nice idea for walk-escape to nature in Barcelona. Although many will be tempted by the choice of cable cars, suggest you climb on foot to enjoy the ride and walking. You will enjoy the many well-kept gardens, look for the "Greek" theater where the summer festivities and those who love art, visit the Miró Foundation.

  • Very beautiful view over the entire city. This cable railway was very modern and clean. We were sitting alone because it was empty, even though we were there in August on a sunny and warm day. Great experience and beautiful pictures. The picture from the entrance costs 10 €.
  • On a sunny day you will have a good view over the whole city from the cabins. It is a very modern funicular which is reflected in the ticket price. Tickets are expensive given that it's only a very short ride and you could easily walk up the hill. I don't get why it doesn't start from the bottom of the hill which would make much more sense.
  • Beautiful panoramic view, the ride was very comfortable (even with 28 degrees outside). The last station is just next to the castle from where you can get even better views. Be aware of "welcome photos" - they'll take you a picture at the entrance and try to sell it at the end.
  • It provide you with panoramic view to see at Atlantic ocean and whole city inside You can find out the most of historical monuments from there You could use more than one time ride if you have time
  • This was a very cool experience. Great views of the whole city. Make sure to go to the top and check out the castle. Very affordable to explore the whole area.
