Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.

  • We were there 30 mins, and I am sure if we went through our house we could find more gadgets or attractions. Otherwise just put on QVC. Don't recommend but if you have nothing to do before your flight...  more »
  • Some interesting and weird inventions though you could do better than spend €28 for two kids and two adults: try taking an ipad to a bar with free wifi and googling 'interesting and weird inventions' ...  more »
  • A quirky little museum, would definitely be more enjoyable to share this experience with children. Some things were not working including the scales and slide (which I notice in another review were no...  more »

  • This is a private business passing themselves off as a museum. All we found was a series of concepts from children. No actual inventions. They were only mockups of ideas kids came up with. My issue isn't actually with the content, but how they sell themselves as an 'invention museum'. They're more of a 'kids' invention fair'. Entry was too expensive for what it was.
  • Aweful. Deserted, bleak, broken slide to get insde which was number one reason my kids wanted to go to begin with. Made me pay for 4 kids instead of 3. Grumpy depressed staff. Half of the things are broken. Use your money on absolutely anything else but steer clear of this place...
  • Very ordinary museum with a small array of inventions, that too only to see and not available to try. You find better inventions in any tech/geek store. Avoid it.
  • Sorry to say this but it's simply embarrassing to run this "museum" in the center of the city like Barcelona. I went with two of my kids age 7 and 14. They display a few very simple objects other with no English description and show a video of a flat screen about how this simple object works. You tube is far more informative and free!
  • Could have been better, but not boring
