Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.

  • Replacing Montjuic in our itinerary with Parc Guinardó and Turó de La Rovira was the best decision ever. The view from above is spectacular. It's free, it's not overwhelmed by tourists. When we arrive...  more »
  • It's a climb.....but worth every step. Beautifull view! There is no place for a coffee, so bring it with you.  more »

  • Great view of Barcelona! You can see the whole city! Free and a pretty easy hike. Take the 92 bus right to the top of the mountain and then hike up about 15 minutes to the best view.
  • The best spot to see Barcelona from above. The way you get there it's a bit strange and it's not the most appealing neighborhood, although totally worth it!
  • Not a must see, but a great place to go if you can spare the time and want to see the sunset from a great location.
  • Best place for a view of Barcelona. Great place to sit and chill and reflect. Better view than park guell as can see all the city more and the spot is more open. Highly recommend.
  • Great view of the city after an easy ascent. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the views and multiple routes so you don't have to walk down the way you came.
