Monumento a Cristoforo Colombo, Barcelona
Categories: Monuments, Tourist Spots
One of Barcelona’s iconic landmarks and a favorite perch of pigeons, the 60 m (197 ft) Monumento a Cristoforo Colombo points proudly across the sea. Built in 1888 to commemorate Columbus reporting his first journey to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, the monument features a bronze statue standing atop a Corinthian column. Although many like to think that Columbus is pointing toward the New World that he was credited with discovering, the statue is, in fact, aiming his finger toward Algeria. Good picture op. The statue is very nice and a good photo opportunity. Watch out for the trafficThe traffic in Barcelona is as bad as NY.
It's a nice monument to Christopher Columbus, but good luck trying to get a decent photo of it up close. Covered in tourists and from a distance it's hard to see without an exceptional zoom lens.
o monumento fica em uma rotatoria com muitas atracoes tanto no litoral quanto na praca. Mais um pedaco da historia nessa cidade incrivel...the monument stands on a roundabout and with many attractions both on the coast and in the square. Another piece of history in this amazing city.show original
