Monasterio de Pedralbes, Barcelona

(4.6/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
The Gothic Monasterio de Pedralbes, a residence for nuns, dates back to the 14th century. During medieval times, the city of Barcelona protected these members of the Order of Saint Clare, although little of the defenses remain today. Note the rose window on the facade of the church. In the former dormitory, you’ll find a permanent exhibition of paintings, including works by Rubens and Velázquez. Bring your camera and a map to help find the place. • We discovered this place thanks to driving a tour bus service ... truly a pleasant discovery. The monastery is located far from the classical tourist areas of the city, but it's very worthwhile visiting. You can appreciate the monastery with the Gothic cloister, the Church. There is also the chance to see some of the places where until a few years ago there were the Poor Clares. The cost is trifling compared to many other attractions of the city and also includes an audio guide Recommended enquire about opening times, as in the winter period is open only in the morning
