Mercat Santa Caterina, Barcelona
(4.2/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Go shopping at this vibrant food market. Mercat Santa Caterina has been in operation since 1848 and is still very popular today. You can immediately recognize the market by its iconic bright wavy roof. Mingle with locals doing their weekly shopping and pick up some fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, and meat. Some Spanish olive oil makes a great souvenir. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stop for a bite to eat at one of the tapas restaurants that open onto the market. • We stopped in on a rainy day, cute rich in any curiosity, classic city market. The bathrooms are paid but they let me in children for free or just show a receipt. • Is not suggestive as la Boqueria, however it is a cross-section of local production, local produce, meats and cheeses, fruit and vegetable, butchers and grocery stores. Worth a ride fast.

  • An indoor market in central Barcelona with much less congestion than at the famous market hall at Las Ramblas (where it is now banned for larger tourist groups due to congestion...) Here you will find all the fine fresh goods without jostling with easily irritated with the locals. So that way more "genuine" nowadays. Beautiful House also!
