Mercat Santa Caterina, Barcelona
(4.2/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Go shopping at this vibrant food market. Mercat Santa Caterina has been in operation since 1848 and is still very popular today. You can immediately recognize the market by its iconic bright wavy roof. Mingle with locals doing their weekly shopping and pick up some fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, and meat. Some Spanish olive oil makes a great souvenir. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stop for a bite to eat at one of the tapas restaurants that open onto the market. • Be sure to have lunch at the Bar Joan in the Mercat Santa Caterina. The tapas are delicious and it's quite reasonably priced.
  • What also offers thousands of options and delicious meals and drinks a beauty of a place that should not miss

  • A stone's throw from the Cathedral of Barcelona (looking and the façade continues to the left) you will find the Santa Caterina market where, outside, there are numerous cafes and places to eat! The atmosphere very slightly less chaotic the Boqueria, but still nice and fun! Note the structure of wooden air cover on which rests a wave structure covered with colored ceramic tiles, completely renovated in 2005 by the architects Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, all clearly inspired by the work of Gaudí.
