Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.

  • This market is not so famous as Boqueria but this is an advantage. Here you can buy fresh fruits, sea products, sushi, hamon and almost everything you can find at that crowdy overrated marketplace.
  • A very good place to buy fresh produce . I would recommend going early in the morning as to get the best picks.
  • Great place where to buy fresh vegetable, fruit, meat, fish etc. There is a supermarket Eroski in the same building.
  • Friendly, lots of interesting fresh food products, great coffees and service.
  • good service. friendly. all the products were fresh and yummy (except one seafood stand which had some frozen products, idk why). nice ambiance. central location. had a bread stand too! helpful for a picnic (we got meat, cheese, tomatoes, green been salad with shrimp(!!!!!), a baguette, olives, pickles, then went to the park just like a 10 min walk away with the spectacular fountain). it was great :)
