The market is always worth a visit. Look, smell, photograph (after consultation with the market be feeder), odds and ends to take or take for later consumption. Everything just so can offer a market. Recommended.

When I visit a new city, the first stop is the local Mercado. The Mercado de San Antonio is the best in Barcelona. We stopped by one of the seafood restaurant stalls and you pick the fresh fish you wa...  more »

Attention closed for renovation! We found ourselves before the market closed for renovation, very disappointed because we went there for nothing, because on the internet it n is not indicated that it is closed. Renovation until October 2017

  • Best market in barca, still in a temporary location till oktober 2017. Cant wait till restoration is over and its back in the old location!
  • Too good place to buy every thing you want and a cheaper price
  • Didn't get to see it in the main building but the temporary one still had plenty of options for produce, meat, and seafood. If you're looking for something to eat probably try somewhere else as options are limited and generally all the same.
  • The market is actually still a construction site and only with a frame can be seen. It has been building for long time and don't know when it will be completed.
  • When reopening end of 2017 this will be the best market in the area with a big supermarket in the basement

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
