  • Being so close to the cathedral I suspect a lot of people walk past this building en route to other places but it is a lovely little courtyard with a nice fountain and palm tee. Not much else to see b...  more »
  • Gothic building, remodeled several times and whose present appearance dates from the last of 1962, located almost next door to the Cathedral and the Roman walls of Placa Nova, carrer de Santa Lucia. Former residence of the Bishops of Barcelona, now houses the historical archives of the city. There isn't much to see: the small inner courtyard (cloister) and the terrace on the 1 St floor, but entry is free and the environments are interesting. In the cloister there is a central fountain and tiled frieze running along the walls; There is also a high Palm tree but this is better from the terrace of the 1 St floor, where you'll also get an overhead view on carrer de Santa Lucia and the chapel. In the outer wall, next to the entrance, you look fine modernist artwork of Alfons Juyol mailbox. Attention: Saturday afternoons and Sundays is closed; also in July and August is also closed on Saturday morning.

  • Finally, there is not a lot of things that can be seen for free at Barcelona, and well, there is not much to do with it, but it's always nice to take pictures in height even if it's not very high!

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
