The Fundació Antoni Tàpies is a cultural center and museum, located in Carrer d'Aragó, in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain), dedicated mainly to the life and works of the painter Antoni Tàpies. The Fundació was created in 1984 by the artist Antoni Tàpies to promote the study and knowledge of modern and contemporary art. It combines the organisation of temporary exhibitions, symposia, lectures and film seasons with a range of publications to go with the activities and periodic shows of Antoni Tàpies’ work. The Fundació owns one of the most complete collections of Tàpies’ work, mostly made up of donations by Antoni and Teresa Tàpies. The Fundació opened its doors in June 1990 in the building of the former Montaner i Simon publishing house, a work of the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, restored and refurbished by the architects Roser Amadó and Lluís Domènech Girbau. Constructed between 1880 and 1885, at an early stage of the evolution of Catalan Modernisme style, the building was the first in the Eixample district to integrate industrial typology, combining exposed brick and iron.TransportBarcelona Metro station Passeig de Gràcia (L2, L3, L4)Put Fundació Antoni Tàpies into our Barcelona tourist route planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

There is practically no work of Tàpies, I think that there is much more work in the Museum Reina Sofia to the Foundation. On the other hand, the sample was shared with films by Harun Farocki, who shared with ideal Tàpies on politics, aesthetics and art from another area. On another occasion perhaps only work, but I do not think to return.show original

Lors de notre visite, il y avait une exposition sur le thème du travail : installations vidéos. Peu d’œuvres de TAPIES. DommageDuring our visit, there was an exhibition on the theme of the work: video installations. Few works of TAPIES. Damageshow original
Was not a fan of the small permanent collection, but the two temporary collections were engrossing. Check to see what's on before visiting! Temporary collections are included as part of the ticket price. Worth visiting if the exhibitions are good and you happen to be in the area for the Gaudi architecture anyway!
After seeing the great Catalan art of the middle ages in the MNAC (not to mention the cathedral and Santa Maria del Mar), the beautiful modernist buildings in the Eixample, and the magnificent works of Picasso and Miró, you will be sorely disappointed by the mediocre (and worse-than-mediocre) work of Antoni Tàpies, an emperor whose new clothes are looking rattier with each passing year.
Not large, but quite good contemporary art.
Just for the value of Barcelona Card
José Ignacio Leyda MenéndezA pity that so few works by Tàpies are exposed.show original
