It combines the organisation of temporary exhibitions, symposia, lectures and film seasons with a range of publications to go with the activities and periodic shows of Antoni Tàpies’ work. The Fundació owns one of the most complete collections of Tàpies’ work, mostly made up of donations by Antoni and Teresa Tàpies. The Fundació opened in June 1990 in the building of the former Montaner i Simon publishing house, a work of the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, restored and refurbished by the architects Roser Amadó and Lluís Domènech Girbau. Constructed between 1880 and 1885, at an early stage of the evolution of Catalan Modernisme style, the building was the first in the Eixample district to integrate industrial typology, combining exposed brick and iron.TransportBarcelona Metro station Passeig de Gràcia (L2, L3, L4)Current exhibitionsCurrent exhibition 1 at Fundació Antoni Tàpies museum, Barcelona: '1989 After the Conversations of Algiers. • Using a purchased PASS 45 euros for 3 days, giving us access to many free museums and foundations, we had the Foundation ANTONI worst. And fortunately we do not have paid quotes! Here a great moment of solitude, I first wondered if it was me who was totally impervious to Art, is the Modern Art, thus becoming an ignoramus or if by chance what I saw was not just above the daisies. I don't know what take the artists name, but there's heavy, a very heavy! And my friend was of the same opinion, being sober all both have can doubt others... A statue of a life-size hippopotamus, overcome by a girl who reads newspapers and whistles every 15 minutes, Yes, until the squiggle representing a man sex, Yes. Well I will not dwell, but frankly I do not recommend, sorry for the Hardtistes.

  • I'm suspect to talk of the exhibitions. In February 2018 were drawings, collages and other works inspired by Teresa. The building of the Foundation is very nice: modern behind an old facade.

  • Arrived 10: 30 and we were told that they had not opened yet the strange thing is that many people listened when we asked to enter an old wrong facing told us that the entrance was at 11:00 am what's odd is that remained and was still getting people the truth and after seeing so bad available, we decided to go to another place

  • Didn't like the art here. Most pieces consist of a bunch of dirty clothes on a pile. Or: An old table with some dirt on it (yes, really)... Or a painting with the canvas facing the wall. Rubbish. The ticket was 7 EUR but permits access to 5 other museums too, so if you'd like to visit several, it may be considerable.
  • Not a huge selection of Tapies work but a nice building and normally has a visiting exhibition.
  • Terrible!!! A few photos of boats and then some things that he had left over in his garage! Go to the Picasso museum or Miró foundation, both are great, this one is a joke.
  • Beautiful place. Superb library (by appointment only). A bit weak on the support for those who do not understand Catalan (or Spanish). Anyway it is worth a visit.
  • Beautiful pieces of art but the museum is small

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
