Admire the beautifully constructed iron El Born, which represents the beginning of modern Catalan architecture. Once a prominent marketplace, the center sits above recently discovered city ruins and now houses a museum and cultural center. Tour the 18th-century archeological remains of the La Ribera neighborhood to learn more about the destruction of the city during the War of Succession. Visit the center’s permanent exhibit of 18th-century artifacts found in the archeological excavation. Wander through the surrounding neighborhood for an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. • Narrow streets and dark alleys ... none straight. Ancient. No crowds of touristas. Really cool ... hidden bars ans cafes and wine shops. Was there that summer 2013 for the Spanish Grand Prix.
