  • Not the biggest zoological garden but there is a wide selection of animals on view. Some of the enclosures are in need of renovations, they are a good size just need updating and a lick of paint. Admission is a little expensive at €21.40 per adult. Easy to get to and from the zoo has its own tram stop outside and many bus routes pass close by. Overall worth a visit.
  • Nice place for a day out in Barcelona, I did feel the park itself needed a little more up keep but I visited in January which isn't a popular time for tourists so maybe they clean up more in peak times. But overall the visit was nice.
  • Lovely zoo, well worth the visit. You can get a great discount if you book online. The only downside was a fair few of the animals weren't visible for one reason or another which was slightly disappointing, but there's plenty to see so just don't assume you'll get to see everything in 1 visit.
  • Great day out, lots of animals and a little more relaxed than British zoos with regards to fencing so you can get a little closers. Don't worry though the carnivores are well fenced...
  • Barcelona City Zoo is one of the worst zoos in the world, it is not suitable for all types of animals. Enclosures here are too small for some species. Really felt sad for the lions, tiger, brown bear, elephants and especially the dolphins... (matchbox sized enclosures). This is why I hate zoos.. .the only reason I WENT is because I had a free entry and because I knew I was going to report this on Google reviews. If you love animals don't go to this zoo. Go to the Sigean African Wildlife Reserve close to Perpignan almost 3 hours from Barcelona. The animals there have so much space....

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.
