Barcelona Wax Museum, Barcelona

Specialty Museum Museum
History, fame, and fantasy come to life at Barcelona Wax Museum, where eerily realistic wax figures, from emperors to celebrities, are on display. They pose together in tableaus that recreate stills from iconic films, combine artists of the past with contemporary ones, or depict historical moments. In the Bosc de les Fades or "Forest of Fantasy," walk into a realm of magic inhabited by fairies, gnomes...and a cafe. That's right, among the twisted tree trunks you'll find a smiling bartender eager to mix you a drink. Consider purchasing an all-inclusive ticket to the main museum attraction, the Bosc de les Fades, and the design boutique Passatage Del Temps. With this ticket, you'll also receive a souvenir photograph, a guidebook, and a 10 percent discount at the cafe and gift shop.  Make Barcelona Wax Museum a centerpiece of your Barcelona vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Barcelona tourist route planner.

Where to stay in Barcelona

Because the city's metro system makes traveling from area to area relatively painless, you have more flexibility in choosing a place to stay. Barceloneta, the neighborhood surrounding the city beach is somewhat removed from the city center, making its hotels popular with families. Only a 15-minute walk from the center, Barceloneta has a more laid-back beach atmosphere but still offers several restaurants and entertainment options. Farther away from the beach and closer to the city center, El Born is a charming neighborhood well-known for its restaurants and lively bar scene. Eixample is also popular as it is more central and home to some of the city's best shopping and tourist sites, including La Sagrada Familia. For a more traditional experience, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter, the heart of Old Barcelona. This picturesque neighborhood boasts a tight network of historical architecture with boutique hotels and traditional restaurants.

  • This is not Madame Tussaud's, but it is a truly unique experience. I can only illustrate this by noting that the first room on your tour has the deposed Shah of Iran. The torture area is a nice ending...  more »

  • This museum is a great price and great space! The ticket includes a glass of Champagne or Cava as they call it. It has information from all over the world and all different time frames. Definitely worth a look for 12 euros (or 10 if you find the discount cards that are around the city).
  • The experience of eroticism of this place had a very good atmosphere both chilling and arousing at the same time, there was a unique perfume exposition which enticed the rest of the experience. They even had a very cool garden for relaxing which really made the stay that much more enjoyable.
  • The museum is small but cozy and well structured. Rooms accommodate historical erotic material from all the epocs. However, it's still quite soft and tempered, and we would appreciate more material and more complete written explanation. In some parts description are only in Spanish (or Spanish + English). What an interactive section? :P :P :P Just kidding. Worth it for the price (9 euros), future possibilities are limited only by the budget and the current laws!! :D
  • Fabulous collection. You must watch the early porn films...they had us all in stitches. Air con would be a great improvemnt
  • Great, quirky thing to do off La Rambla. Very unassuming location, so could be easy to miss. Tastefully done, and very informative.
