  • It is known as the small Vatican because it has an impressive basilica. You can also visit the House where lived Ignatius, founder of the order of the Jesuits, next to the basilica. If you have time, I recommend to visit the village of Loyola, which is a jewel of the Basque country.

  • AZPEITIA Basque country then go the road of the municipality Guiszpuscoano of Azpeitia in the Basque country reach the sanctuary of Loyola (in Basque) its medieval Holy House. San Ignacio de Loiola, the most universal Basque was born. He was the founder of the society of Jesus. First dedicated to weapons following the family tradition but changed their orientation when he was badly wounded in the battle defending Pamplona against the French. While lasted his convalescence is dedicate to reading religious books in his house and that it would delve into the Catholic faith so he decided to devote themselves to religion.

  • Visited November 2016, is very particular, decidedly austere. The architecture is really beautiful and commendable, unfortunately essende a cloistered monastery you cannot visit as tourists. But you have to book a tour and fact in advance. I was able to visit the only church which is the most artistically relevant. Worth a visit especially as a place of faith.
