Entering a large natural park, is a mountain massif in the North of Spain, which is part of the central part of the Cantabrian mountain range. Its closeness to the sea make it very scenic landforms. It is the second most visited National Park in Spain, after the National Park of Teide in the Canary Islands. It is a limestone formation that reaches Cantabria, León and the Principality of Asturias. They are their heights, in many cases above 2500 m, by how close you are from the Bay of Biscay, because at its most northern point just 15 kilometers from the sea distance. Geographically the Picos de Europa are in the line of the Cantabrian mountain range, even though they are considered as an independent this unit by its most recent training. They occupy a total area of 67 455 hectares divided between the three provinces. [citation needed] The Picos de Europa comprise three massifs: the Western or Cornión massif, the Massif Central or the Urrieles, and the Eastern massif or Andara. The greatest heights are in the massif of the Urrieles, who happens to be the most rugged of the three, because fourteen of its peaks exceed 2600 m of altitude, with the Torre Cerredo, of 2650 m, 2 ceiling of these mountains and third most of the Iberian peninsula, after the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada. Another mountain that is part of this Massif is the Naranjo de Bulnes or Picu Urriellu, of great historical importance in the Spanish mountaineering. It was conquered for the first time on 5 August 1904 by Pedro Pidal, Marquis of Villaviciosa, and his team-mate and Gregorio Pérez Demaría guide cainejo, natural Valdeón Caín Shepherd. [citation needed], ascension, which is considered as the birth of mountaineering in Spain. In the macizo Occidental or Cornión, so called because of the shape of Horn offering its silhouette seen from the West, emphasizes the Peña Santa, 2596 m altitude in exceeding 110 m to the next peak of this massif, the Torre de Santa María or Torre Santa de Enol. These two mountains, the Peña Santa and the Tower Santa, this Massif is known also as the penalties Santas. The macizo Oriental, also called Andara by be in the Cirque of the same name, is the most modest of the three, both in height (its roof, la Morra from Lechugales, reaches 2444 m in altitude) as in verticals.
