  • We were 2 adults and two children of 3 and 5 years. Very much liked the visit and part of Museum. The visit to the great mine and everything very well explained by the Guide Elizabeth. All very well kept and the staff super friendly. Recomiendo.IR early to be calm and at least 2 hours to visit mine and Museum. No strollers can be downloaded to the mine but not a major problem because with a backpack for the small we were luxury!

  • We were recommended by the person who carries the apartment where we stayed and were right. You have an exhibition with tooling and machinery that are have been using years as mining, interactive parts there are very cool. The best is when you go down to the mine. Excellent visit.

  • The entry, it is amazed by the grandeur of the Museum with impressive old machines. But not only that, some parts of the Museum are devoted to various trades related to the miners - lamps for miners, explosive, tools--the highlight of the show is the descent into the mine or you will be guided in Spanish only. You will discover the trades of miners and the dangers that go with.

  • World class museum about the history of mining in Asturias and in general. The tour of a "mine" below the building is very well done and conveys a great sense of the working conditions and technology. Also has a great exhibition on the history of explosives and chemistry as well as sections on medicine, scientific instruments etc. We spent 3h+ here - definitely worth a visit!
  • Very interesting exhibition and very friendly people.
  • A hidden treasure. Large museum with lots of mining equipment and information about the mining process. Most interesting is the tour below the museum which shows how mining has been performed over the last 200 years or so in Asturias.
  • Interesting and entertaining museum.
  • We visited the museum in March, 2011 while staying in Oviedo. This was one of the most interesting museums we've seen in Europe, or home in the US. We'd been to some other mining museums in California and Arizona, 2 other places known for extensive mining in the past--one of these was a copper mine, another a gold mine. However, the museum in Asturias was all about mining in this area, which was for coal, and while we had a guided tour of a simulated mine (as opposed to the actual mine, as with the other 2 I'd mentioned), the overall experience was very memorable. The displays in the above ground portion of the museum were extensive, and the guided tour quite good. The museum staff were personal, very well-informed and enthusiastic about their subject. Truly world class!
